I love this idea too! I could contribute something about bloat as Bear had this and survived surgery and lived a good life for about 4 more years. And I have a great story about Bear's great escape and the joyful reunion of me finding him on my birthday, 3 days after he escaped! My mom has written 2...

Just to update, I have started the acidophalus, took Bones for a bath with a shampoo recommeded by vet and vet started on a 3 week course of antibiotics. No real change yet, but just started the antibiotics yesterday. I'll keep posting here if any changes. I haven't been able to even read general di...

Wow, if it is yeast, I will be kinda upset  that my vet didn't catch this. She has not done any skin tests that I remember, only blood tests and looking at the skin. I will research on the net too. I went and bought another bag of Solid Gold and the staff at the store recommended acidophalus w...

When Bones came to our home, I was hoping that he and Bear would become buddies from the start. well, Bear started growling and showing his teeth and the two would chase each other growling and biting and I was like, "what have I done, what have I done...). I didn't like to see Bear so aggressi...

forgot...no foul odor. It does sound from your description that it could be this yeast. I could ask my vet for a copy of the blood tests - would that tell you anything?

Thanks :)

Kiwani, it doesn't look nearly that bad. His stomach area has the look of that in several places, but with only one or 2 bumps and a small blackened area. He has a reddened bump here and a reddened bump there (looks similar to the bumps in the picture) and dry, flakey patch here and there (mostly on...

Thank all for your thoughts. Jeff-Bones was on Nutro until the vet suggested that the itching may be due to food allergies so I have been trying out new foods to see if he stops itching. Kiwani, I tried to send you a private message yesterday and post here, but was not successful in the posting here...

Welcome home Miss Molly - you are so beautiful - your family is so lucky to have you! Nancy, I got both my boys after they were 3 months old as my breeder like to toilet train them and keep them with their mother until then, so maybe it's not unusual, but your breeder should have been truthful about...

He has only 4 left and since it doesn't seem to be doing much good, I thought I'd just not get anymore. I'm noticing when I brush him that he has a lot of dandruff, especially under his tail area and still the small raised bumps - sometimes I get a small scab off and there is the reddened raised bum...

Kiwani, Bones had this itch problem well before we moved to this house (I was hopeful that it may disappear with the move, but no such luck) so I don't think that it is the root of the problem. Jeff, Bones is actually licking the dirt up. He is not digging at all. He just bends his head and starts t...

Feb 23 is a good day for a bday - its mine too! I'll always remember Miah's bday, although I'm a few years older  great photos! Dirt Eating

Anyone know why Bones may be eating dirt? We have a small planter type brick half moon filled with dirt. We moved here in August and the former owner left the carrots she had planted there for us to eat. This is where I would pull out the small carrots for Bones that he would first play with and the...

Hi fighter, To keep your mother's husband happy take some time now to train your dog to go pee and poop in one spot in the yard. It can be done - a chow is very clean by nature so hopefully he got that part of the chow. Go out with him as many times as you can on leash and give him a command in the ...

I love the name Molly even better than Hannah! She is already a beautiful Jolly little Molly... can't wait to hear all about her when you get to pick her up!
