Hi Pam, I'm glad you found us. I really found comfort here when I was grieving my first Chow Bear who died 2 October's ago - I miss him all the time. We got Bones, his cousin, about 4 years before Bear died. I am a very practical person and have worked with dying people and their families for years....

Welcome to the site! I had a Bear too! When we would all leave for work or school, he would chew on his fur and make an open area - it was due to separation anxiety and we eventually got a chow pup named Bones (his cousin). This helped tremendously and they got along well after the first week or so....

I am a social worker and a mother of 2 boys 5 and 11. I stay home and work part time or less. I love being at home with my boys and Bones. Bones follows me from room to room as I do the daily chores. Wherever I am, he will be within 2-3 minutes watching my every move. I feel so blessed!

I've told this story before, so forgive me, those who have already read it before. When I was 16 years old, my family went to visit relatives in Germany. I was taken by my non-english speaking aunt's sister's home for a visit. No one there spoke english and I spoke very little german. They took me u...

Welcome to the site xueshuxin and Songsong! Just a comment that I think it is good that your chow growls when someone comes to the door. I wouldn't try to retrain, but maybe to teach Songsong that if you open the door and let someone in, that the person is welcome in the home. I don't know if that i...

These new paw prints have got my 11 year old son interested in our site. He is trying to think up ways to get my numbers up. I am almost at 100 and will soon be receiving my very first paw print. He marvels at Judy Fox and tells me that I should post only 1 sentence replies in order to get more post...

This is my 11 year old son dictating to me: I feel that its sick that you have to leave your family pet behind because animals have feelings just like us :_| I feel that something should be done about this tragedy :postit-mad: :-x  I think someone should take it up with the American Government...

First of all I would like to say that I was thrilled that there was a competition for Bing; he went from being totally abandoned to having 3 families wanting him! What a joy for chows and chow lovers everywhere. Secondly, as I said to Susan in my private email, whatever is best for Bing is great. We...

My Bear was a horrible drooler and slobber so much so that we ended up using faceclothes frequently during the day to wipe it all off. We ended up just tucking the facecloth for the day into his collar so it was handy at all times. He didn't mind and we didn't get a huge spray of slob and whatever e...

Bones is nuts about bunnies and it is hard to manage sometimes. When we go camping in the mountains at Canmore there are rabbit holes all over the place and bunches of bunnies. If Bones spots one he gives a series of very high pitched barks and pulls on his leash or tie out chain. The series of bark...

Hi all, I emailed Susan yesterday saying that I was trying to be patient, but had to ask what was going on with Bing as I hadn't heard anything for 6 days. She promptly replied that she has been working on the 2 other homeless chows because Bing is in a foster home and being well-cared for at presen...

We filled out the adoption application and contract yesterday and sent off to Susan and as she posted she is going to see Bing at his foster home this weekend. My husband and are are trying not to get our hopes up to high in case he does no...
