bloat
I agree with Lou that it is not bloat or stomach twisting as it is not just in one place on the dog when bloat is occurring. It is the entire middle of the body that becomes hard and swollen and your Chow would be yelping in pain. My Bear had bloat and had to be rushed to the vet for emergency surge...

vet
I have a vet who comes to my home and sits down and gives Bones a lot of time to sniff and snort and growl while she and I talk about how Bones is. Then she lets me do some of the work and guides me ie. put the stethescope there-no, down a little bit more etc. and Bones lets us do this together. Usu...

Bear
Stephanie, I am so sorry for your loss and wanted to say that Bear was a very lucky Chow to have you. The words you said to him were so beautiful that he must have been glowing in your love. Remember all the wonderful times you have had growing up with Bear and if you can, write about him to us or i...

Poor you
Oh Judy, I feel so badly for you. Of course you did not do this on purpose, but these Chows have such long memories. Slow and steady wins the race, she will come around eventually. You are so good to your dogs! Hang in there! Debbie and Bones

You are right Judy, Alex has not emailed in a long time. Also has anyone heard about Dakota from Edmonton, Canada and owner Roxanne? She was a dedicated emailer and I don't know why she hasn't emailed. Has anyone heard from her?

Taz - I think you were wondering what whiskers are?? Am I correct? Whiskers are the long strands of thicker individual hair coming off the side of the face. Cats have them too. Happy Thanksgiving from Canada. Today is our thanksgiving and a day off! I brushed Bones for about 2 hours - he loves it......

Hooray for Luke
You must have been so relieved when the vet told you that you didn't have to put Luke down. Its like a dream come true. Today is the 2nd anniversary of our Bear's death and I would have given anything to hear that I could do something to keep him alive. I'm so happy for you both and for all your ani...

Happy Birthday to Milly and Mabel! By now they are probably both fast asleep dreaming of chasing squirrels - hope it was a good one. *Censored Word* glands
this is a subject that I had no idea about until I got Bones. I had Bear another chow for 8 years before we got Bones, and had no idea about *Censored Word* glands. Once we got Bones we learned quickly that when he is scared he sets off his *Censored Word* glands and it has a horrible smell. He has ...

doggie doors and Pekoe
Jeff, I had to laugh when I read Pekoe won't use his doggie door. What a dignified fellow not to lower himself! Methinks he is playing a little game with you. Bones plays a funny game with me. He sits at the top of the stairs looking like he wants to go outside, but because experience has taught me ...

I am so sorry that you and your Chow are having this experience. I have not experienced anything like this and find it abhorent that he will be in this cage for so long with no visits from you.
