Leroy Is Such A Sweetheart
I just wanted to give a brief update and let yall know that Leroy has become a very sweet, calm (mostly), albeit lazy family member in his recent years. He is about to turn 9 and I have had no issues whatsoever with his temper in the last 4 years. I believe his age and maybe having him neutered help...

Re: troubled chow
Chow Chows are very independent and aloof, and they need an owner who appreciates those traits but won't let the dog take over.. So absolutely true indeed. It takes that right level of respect for your chow and his/her understanding that you are THE BOSS. I wish people had to get a chow chow license.

Re: Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Hello Everyone. I just wanted to give yall a little update Leroy was neutered when he was 3 and a half. Almost 3 and a half years ago....where does the time go?? :( I have noticed such a difference in his behaviour since then. He hasn't snapped and bitten anyone...he just seems more calm all round. ...

Re: Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Am using my phone right now, but I appreciate all the responses, and will reply when I;m home. Victory, The vet said Leroy;s eye shape was an indication that he may get entropian, however she said right now he was fine. I;ve never noticed any vision problems. Hes very alert and follows everything.

Re: Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Hi Valerie. We actually detoured from going up our driveway, and headed over to the neighbours. So Leroy bit Jim in Jim's very own yard (driveway)

Re: Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Hi Merlin. The vet told us that Leroy's vision was okay for now, but the bottom of his eye lids showed early signs of entropion....but so far he was ok. I initially thought it was a play bite as well but Leroy had bitten him too hard for it to be a play bite. I thought maybe he had gotten so excited...

Re: Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Just getting home from work now, and will be sitting down to read all of your replies. I think I need to correct one important thing though. When I said we reached, I meant we approached. My neighbour did not touch Leroy, he didnt even attempt to pet Leroy before he was bit. In any event I am going ...

Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Tuesday morning as Leroy and I were returning from our walk, we noticed our neighbour in his driveway so we ventured over to say hello. Jim has known Leroy for 3 years now. He babysits Leroy everytime we go on vacation, has walked Leroy dozens of times over the years. Any event, the second we reach ...

Leroy is really hurt. :( Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Yesterday at my aunt's barbeque, Leroy jumped off of her patio. The patio was no higher than 2.3 maybe 3 feet max. Immediately he started yelping...and could put NO pressure what so ever on his back right leg. A trip to the emergency vet last night revealed he now has Anterior Cruciate Ligament. It'...

Leroy is having surgery on wednesday
Hey chow lovers! We are getting Leroy neutered next Wednesday morning. The vet told us he cannot eat anything after Tuesday evening after 8 pm. I was just wondering are there any special circumstances for chows during surgery. Any advice that anyone can offer me to help Leroy through the healing sta...

Re: Leave Sleeping Dogs Lay....Yup He Did It Again :(
This in my opinion was definately her fault. You should never jump over anything sleeping. Even a person will pop up when startled and she would have fallen. Did he bite her or did he grab her with his mouth? Some people don't think there is a difference but to me a bite leaves tooth marks where as...

Leave Sleeping Dogs Lay....Yup He Did It Again :(
So yesterday my girlfriend came over...we were wathcing movies on the couch. Leroy was sound asleep when her cell phone rang, which was across the room. She jumped up, and took a leap over leroy while running thru the living room. He lost it. I know he was startled, because I watched him wake up and...

Exactly how I feel. Strangely enough, I almost find it calming now because I'm just so used to it.

Re: How do you know when "it's time"?
Ralphie died two years ago yesterday. He was 14.5 years old, he had arthritis and canine dementia. He was living with my ex-b/f because he couldn't make it up and down steps, and I used to be there every weekend from Friday night til Monday morning. When we split up, I tried to take Ralphie with me...

Oh yeah they never forget. My LiChi had a thing for little girls with long dark hair...he grew up around my neice who was a little girl with long dark hair...and then there was my housemate's daughter who also had long dark hair. And this is why it is so important to make sure their experiences whe...

Re: This Is Somethin' Else.
I had no idea he would ever remember him BUT his pain over his best friend leaving led him to sleep at the front door of my then condo, for 3 weeks straight. I felt for him :( Its like they have their own little souls. Someone once told me the bible tells stories of animals with no souls. Wouldn't b...
