Re: TPLO Recovery time?
Hi Barbara, I'm happy to hear Boris is doing better! So he had a reaction to Tramadol? I find Chows are very sensitive to many medications.Chyna has been on so many I keep a list of the ones she can't take. Chyna got her stitches out Monday and the doctor is happy with her progress so far. She just ...

Re: TPLO Recovery time?
Hi Barbara, Funny you should write me about the TPLO surgery as my 9 year old female just had her left knee done on Feb.1 very unexpectedly. My girl Chyna is not healthy but there was no choice about the TPLO surgery,if she didn't have it she couldn't move as she has many other orthopedic issues. I ...

Re: concern about a Chow Chow
I have to say that I totally agree with you. Why is he telling different stories about whats going on with his Chow? I think this man is being selfish not finding another home for this poor Chow. I don't blame you for losing respect for this man. Its obviously upsetting to the people that work there...

Re: concern about a Chow Chow
Thats a terrible situation for you and the Chow. Everyone gave such great advice, I too think trying to befriend this Chow is the best idea. Its great if he'll take treats from you because some Chows will not take food from strangers. Its a good idea if you can just let him stay in the same room wit...

Re: TPLO Recovery time?
Oh,I'm sorry to hear about both your Chows having AC problems. Many years ago one of my male Chows had both knees done (3 months apart) and I believe it was about 3 -4 months recovery time. Please leash walk while shes recovering because even though they are feeling better you can't let them get cra...

Re: Help! My dog keeps vomiting :(
Yes,I agree that IBD happens more so in older dogs but my first male Chow was about 6 years old and my 2nd boy was about 3 years old when they were diagnosed with IBD. I had a little female Chow who would vomit from time to time and the vet had me give her Pepcid AD a half hour before meals. You cou...

Re: Help! My dog keeps vomiting :(
Everyone has given very good advice but may I add that if hes vomiting you should be giving him white rice not brown because white rice is easier to digest. If he were well brown rice is great but not if hes still vomiting. Also,I just wanted to mention I've had 2 male Chows that have had Irritable ...

I'm sorry I hadn't seen this sooner Jennifer but my heart breaks for you. You were such a wonderful, loving Mom to Troy. I don't think these feelings get better with time,I think we just learn to live with them. I lost my sweet Kai in August,he was only 3 years old and I am still crying almost daily ...

I'm so sorry about the loss of your young boy Gandalf.
Its hard enough loosing them when they've had a long life but its extra hard when they are so young.
Rest in peace sweet boy.

Re: Traveling with a chow
I agree to take Tony with you! He would be very sad alone and you can spend quality time with him on a long trip like that. I alone have taken my 2 Chows with me driving across the country and they loved it! We'd stop every few hours at some beautiful rest stops and walk for a while. Like I said,I d...
