Re: Louie's Story. RIP "Monkey* 10/06-12/12
I am so very sorry for your loss. Beautifully said Pam. It is so very hard when our furkids leave us for the rainbow bridge. It feels like your heart has been ripped apart. Remember that Louie knew how much you loved him and just keep remembering the joy he gave your life. Before my MiniMe went to t...

MiniMe 5 yrs/ Golden 1 yr
Cinnamon it has been 5 years (well actually the date was the 29th) since you went to the rainbow bridge. “MiniMe” it seems like a life time ago since I last held you. I remember the day that I saw you at the shelter I knew then that you stole my heart. When I brought your Daddy back to meet you I ma...

Re: I'm upset....
After Humphrey's surgery I would suggest checking into a Vet that does acupuncture. I have had it done on two of my Chows in the past and had wonderful results. My Teddy had arthritis first in his front elbows then down the back of his spine. I knew he wouldn't put up with them putting the needles i...

Definetly use one of the better brands. We also use Nutro Natural Choice the lamb and rice formula. We mix a heaping fork full of the same formula of the can into the dry kibble.

Re: Spay yes or no?
There are so many Chows out there that are already looking for homes. I would definetly say get her spayed. It also helps prevent them from getting some cancer later on. Plus like it was already mention they can also get pyometra which can come on quickly when they go in heat. We had 2 of our rescue...

I would also suggest getting her thyroid levels tested. My Brandon had thyroid problems and we found out because we took him in for fur loss. Then a few years later he started lossing his fur again. He was on medicine and with the pills his levels were fine so we had him tested for allergys and he e...

For your Chow's pain ask your Vet about Gabapenton. I have used it for 2 of my guys. Also if you have a Vet in the area that does acupuncture, that also is another good way to go.

R.I.P. Apollo. Sweet boy you will be very sadly missed. Apollo was one of our senior rescues that if we had not been at our limit he would have found his furever home here. My prayers and thoughts go out to his parents Don and Gail Janssen. Thank you for adopting a senior boy and I know how much you...

She is a red Chow. She looks a lot like what my MiniMe looked like which is my photo. She will be 3 in Dec. Luckily the Animal Control officer loves Chows and called to see if we could take her. It feels way more then I can handle. I am usually a strong person but this is just so much. That is why I...

That was exactly 4 yrs from when Cinnamon (my MiniMe) left us. Then April 4 my beautiful boy left us. My Mi...

Does anyone know of a good forum for the loss of fur kids? I am looking for one that knows the loss is one of losing a family member. I don't want one that they consider the loss of just a dog or just a cat. I have had more then a few of my fur kids pass in the last year. I need to find other people...

Re: Need to have an Operation done to Our female chow
Our Vet removed the ball on the hip of one of our rescues that had been hit by a car. She had a break in that area and since she was also around the 50lb weight. We recently heard from the people that adopted her and the said she is doing great. You might want to ask about using suppliments for the ...

Re: Need help. Are these foods healthy?
I am not sure about those brands, but we use Nutro-Natural Choice lamb and rice. We give our chows and the rescues 3 and 1/2 cups daily and we also mix in a big fork full of the same brand can food into the kibble. For treats we also use Nutro. Most brands will have a weight guide on the bag on how ...

I am so very sorry to hear about yours and Haley's loss of Pippy. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. It is so very hard when one of our beloved fur kids leave us. She is running free at the rainbow bridge looking down and watching over both of you.

Chow puppies that were in KY
As a rescue we have NEVER backed out of taking a Chow when we commented to him/her. Everyone here that has to go someone else has a place to go and will be to the new foster home or kennel by the time limit we were given. Yesterday we went and got the 3 Chow girls. They are in a foster home and when...

I have posted 2 of our senior Chows in the correct section. Trinity is a pure breed and Tango is Chow/Samoyed. If any one is interested and has any more question about them please contact me. I didn't list Apollo because he has an adoption pending. If it does not work out then I will post him. He is...

There are some Chow puppies in KY that were put up on a Chow rescue list. They were listed on there by an Ohio rescue. This rescue acted like she wasn't interested in any of them. Well we commented to taking them. Then earlier this week she goes to the Shelter and tries to take 2 of them. (of course...

Re: Easiest way to remove a tick
Thanks for the tip. The 3 Chow puppies that we had brought up from North Carolina were covered in ticks. We had them kenneled at a Vet there overnight until they could be transported. While there we had them groomed because they were covered in poop and also had them apply Frontline. Most of the tic...
