Tinker lived happily with our loving day to day attention until he was past 15. As you older, you sometimes get medical problems. Tinker had them and they cause pain. He was on Rymadil daily for 6 years and this relieved his pain. Think about it, if you are in pain from anything.....you are grumpy. ...

I really hope this helps you. Tinker - purebred chow chow, 65lbs, at 10 yrs old (he lived over 15 + years total) had what our trusted vet said was the worst case of hip displasia he had seen since vet school. Obviuosly painful! Trust me, I'm an old broke down x trucker with bad spinal problems and i...

How do we do a Tribute 4 TINKER?
I don't think anyone but you guys can help us or understand. It's coming up on Dec 21st. That's the morning Tinker was called home. He passed sleeping right between me and Michelle. Thank you God. Something deep inside me tells me I need and want to do some sort of tribute to him. I need to, even if...

Boy, this is an awfully late reply but I just read your request for a vet recommendation in the Bay Area. I was searching the site for something an ran across your post. So, here's my 2 cents. Dr. Rick Leninger 408-779-6867 South County Animal Hospital San Martin Ca (just south of San Jose) May be a...

Oakland SPCA
Maybe it's human nature to only make a "big stink" when something is bad or wrong. Well, I NEED to voice an opinion about the Oakland SPCA. My wife Michelle and I just finalized a rescue adoption of Zen from them. WOW. The facility is beautiful, clean and well lit. The kennels are nice and...

God's Plan for Zen
As I write this today, it's 7 months since our Tinker went on ahead of us. My heart STILL gets ripped open in pain EVERY time I remember him. What a tremendous loss. But....... The Man upstairs had a plan. My wife Michelle found a chow online who had a special need. Oakland SPCA (They are so awesome...

Details from our point of view. We showed up and were immediately welcomed with a flower lai (lay?) for Zen and a very custom wristband with Zen's name on it for us. There were alot of chows there...maybe 10 plus when we got there. Like I said in the last post, I counted 19 at the end of a group pic...

It's so obvious how much effort, time, pre-planning, love, money, time, time, energy went into this event.....Michelle and I were blown away, absolutely blown away, OMG. Chowfest 2007....OMG!! PLEASE READ THIS.... Some of the symptoms may be allergies but don't be too quick to write everything off to them. You describe several problems. The ear goo is probably an infection and needs antibiotics and topical drops along with a non-alcoholic rinse. Eyes and skin issues ARE probably seasonal ...

Tinker's Parents have new baby.
First, Michelle and I wish to say a huge loving thank you to all in these forums. Especially those who were there to offer kind words as we grieved Tinker and continue to. 2 Thursdays ago, Michelle found a male chow needing a special rescue at Oakland SPCA. The website said he needed a "special...

Tinker - Chapter 5 No tissue needed
TINKER TALES - Chapter 5 Sometimes I didn’t give Tinker enough credit for how smart he was. He’s a chow so obviously bathing and brushing are a regular part of his life. Really close to our home is one of those pet super stores. In the back they have bathing stalls you can rent to wash your dog your...

Tinker - Chapter 4 you'll need tissue
TINKER TALES – Chapter 4 Michelle and I had been together about a year before we were blessed with Tinker. I fell for her from the start! In addition to being gorgeous, she had a good heart, a solid character and high moral values. I’m a lucky man. I never forget that. It’s funny how I didn’t really...
