Re: Bladder Infections
Thank you all for the responses. I think I am going to change her food, number one. Ever since she has been eating Blue Buffalo she has had this issue, for 6 weeks. I am also adding organic apple cider vinegar and as I said, going to feed Innova. Hope these changes help her.

Bladder Infections
Does anyone know if certain dog food brands are more likely to contribute to UTI's than others? For example, anyone heard of Blue Buffalo causing more ut problems? Also, does anyone use any holistic methods of either curing a UTI and or preventing them? It seems my girl, Mia, is prone to them and th...

Re: Best way to remove eye gunk
I'm with Lola Chow. One of mine has a lot of the eye gunk. Once or twice a day I moisten a cotten ball or a paper towel with warm water and wipe. Then dry. Voila! No more gunk. At least until next time!

Re: Can they drown?
I had a Chow many years ago that jumped into a lake. He was paddling to beat the band! Only he was not going forward...he kept floating onto his side, still paddling! We of course had to pull the silly boy out! He never did try that again! Our girl Mia was put into the pool by us last summer, thinki...

I know that the girls tend to get a larger coat after spaying. In my Mia's case, she has a MUCH larger coat after she was spayed 1 year ago. She has so much coat she is almost lost in it! Oh Boy, can't wait till shedding season!

That most were deliberately lit chills me to the bone. All those lives lost and homes destroyed, and someone or someones did it knowing full well what the consequences could be. My goodness, what is this world coming to. Sending prayers to Australia...

Re: Sophia is sad, her puppy is hurt
Hi Patti, I am so sorry to hear that you have had such hard times. Keep looking ahead and keep the faith, things will get better. My 1 year old chow boy Joey ruptured his ACL some months ago. With all of his other ortho issues, surgery was not an option. We chose to keep going with him and treat the...

Oh, how my heart breaks for your loss. Such a long time to share the love of a wonderful companion, who is now at peace and free from pain. Time, though it is passing so slowly for you now, will help to heal the hurt left behind. Keep the memories of all the good times you shared and keep the faith ...

Re: Opinions Please
Well, Joey and I visited his vet this AM. I just needed to hear one last time what I know in my heart. She said he was a surgical candidate, but it would only be a temporary fix. Because of all of the other joint issues he has, the surgery is almost pointless. She found the ACL tear but also swellin...

Auddymay,
Your words brought tears to my eyes, again. I know what you say is the truth, it is reality. But it hurts so much more when it comes from someone else other than myself because I am hoping that this is just another rough patch. Your words hit me in the heart. Thank you for care.

I have posted before about this topic and the many responses I received were heartfelt and caring. Here I am finding myself in almost the very same spot I was in some months ago, which is what prompted me to ask for your opinions back then. Some of you may remember my Joey, my chow boy that has inop...

I agree. I frequent this site to gain information and to "relax". There are so many very nice folks that visit. However, with the constant bickering, berating each other and some downright nastiness, I don't find relaxation here much anymore. I wish all would learn to get along.

Re: Interesting Article about diversity in breeding
So true, Sam. It is not only the breeders that would have the general public think that a "show" breeder is the only logical solution to a well bred dog. How many tens of thousand of dollars does the AKC sink into advertising the "Purebred" dog as being the end all to dog ownersh...

Re: Interesting Article about diversity in breeding
I spent the time needed to view all of the videos in this presentation. By the time I got half way through the first one I was in tears. I own 3 lovely Chows. All from show breeders and 2 of them have problems they never should have had if the breeders had taken half a second to review how much inte...

And if this Jeff person will get in touch with the breeder, through the microchip, I am sure that breeder will make arrangements to have the dog returned to them............. All reputable breeders microchip their puppies! I'm going to do something most folks wouldn't cause they know they he can do...

Why don't you go to rescue? They need a good home. And you can kick around whoever bred them........... You sound just like the PETA people. I think you ought to check out their website they have a shirt just made for you.......... What I am having a difficult time understanding is why a "new&...

Re: Same old stuff!
Breeders may not intentionally breed bad litters, but they sure do intentionally breed bad dogs...I currently have 3 Chows. All from well known breeders. Two of the three have medical issues of genetic origin. Both of the breeders INTENTIONALLY bred a dog or dogs with known (to the breeder) ortho is...

Re: Loss of Appetite
I would tend to think that a vet work-up is most certainly in order. Any number of things can cause a dog to go off of it's food, but I mostly do not think that it is normal. I think starting with blood work is a good spring board into investigating what May be wrong. Best wishes and keep us posted...
