He does look like a Eurasier. Last time I moved Jasmine was a "Japanese Foo Dog/Spitz type, vet can't be sure as she was a rescue dog so no lineage available". Landlord saw her and said "oh, she looks a bit like a Chow. My son's girlfriend had a Chow, a very mean dog. But I guess Chow...

Oh David, I'm so sad to hear about Max. I've been unable to get internet at home for a long time now so have not been part of the site. But the few months I "lived" here I came to love everyone and all the furkids. Max was always one of my favorites with his wonderful antics and expression...

Re: Chowy things that your Chows do
The list is so long! Here are a few I can think of. Jasmine is a watcher. She will sit for hours watching out the window. She has slacked off the zoomies but did them when she was younger. I miss them :( She will carry a rawhide treat around for a while before devouring it. Sometimes she will try to...

Re: Allergy
If I was asking if any of the chow here had been diagnosed with an allergy other than food, it's because I don't remember any.... :( I am of course affraid the tests will come back negatives meaning it's food, like many chows... Just so you know, blood tests don't always show what the allergy might...

And there are NO silly or dumb questions! Only the lack of knowledge, which can only be solved by asking someone who has experience with something. And you can always find someone on this board that knows the answer to a question! This forum is filled with fantastic people that do know Chows.

Re: Signs of heat
Jazzy had 1 maybe 2 heats (I only noticed 1 very short and minor heat, found just a couple spots to clue me, but the vet thought she probably had 2). So I didn't ever need to use anything or have the clean up problem thank goodness! I also got lucky because she was outside a lot during that time and...

Re: food for thought
I can't find Solid Gold in my area but I've heard great things about it. I feed Jasmine Blue Buffalo salmon and sweet potato recipe. The thing I like about this is there is NO wheat or wheat by products in it. I've had problems with her with allergies and she seems to do better on this than the Nutr...

Oh, Lily! Jaz here. I would have been scared to watch mommy drive away and would have went home. But then when I saw her come back I would have hidden again  Don't want her to know I get scared! It's fun to have adventures on our own, but it does make my mommy upset when I get away. Fortunately they learn to adapt. Jasmine was never left alone (I was sick and didn't work her first year and half of her life) But now if I'm getting dressed for work she either goes to the door to be let out (if weather permits) or goes and lays on her couch. I always tell her I'll be back (might s...

LOL! Thanks for all the comments. I guess it must have been the chicken, although I hope Jaz doesn't find out that cats taste that good! Like I said, most of the time they do not get any bites and just sit and drool. Letting Jaz have the piece that fell to the floor probably made her crazy. I know s...
