Ownership Transfer

Hi all, I'm curious about the transfer of ownership regarding CKC registered chows. As an example, if someone has a CKC registered dog (not intact) and is wanting to rehome that dog, is it imperative that the new owner (or the original owner) do an actual ownership transfer with the CKC or not? Than...

Re: Chow fest in Canada

Rude?! Because you make claims without proof? After high-jacking a thread? You didn't start your own thread for a reason. All you have to do is be specific, you started down this path so come on let's have everything. Oh yeah and for full disclosure we're in Ottawa, so your right, again... "cl...

Re: Chow fest in Canada

Well ok then. No useful information from you. Got it. On with the show. why have you been and continue to be so incredibly rude? if you lived in Ontario you'd know exactly who I've been talking about, obviously you don't live in Ontario so why do you care other than to post nothing but insults to m...

Re: New Chow Chow Owner - Potty Training Please Help!

So what is the normal time to get a chow house broken? I have a crate and I dont want him to use the crate but I sure dont want him to do his business in the house. What is your recommendation on how to train him. I dont want to train him by putting newspaper on floor. Let me ask you guys this is y...

Re: New Chow Chow Owner - Potty Training Please Help!

I fostered 3 chow puppies and their mom for 4 months a few years ago and there was only one accident on the kitchen floor. I didn't even have to "train" them, they trained themselves.

Re: My Chow pulls

Sorry! yeah thats the one I mean I was advised not to use that as his eyes are still healing, How did you get on with the halti that fits round the muzzle. The halti I used worked wonders, there was no need for me to be constantly correcting him, etc. which ends up being a lousy walk for the chow w...

Re: jumping on people-please HELP!!

How old is he? I've only ever had one chow who's jumped up and have never corrected him either, although he usually only jumps up on me when I open the door LOL. That's just his way of greeting me and maybe your chow has a similar personality. If you correct him, he will interpret that as being is &...

Re: Chow fest in Canada

All very good info in general. However you still haven't backed up your claim. So you appear to be making judgements without bringing value to the forum. If your going to tarnish someone you should be clear on whom that is for all concerned. I for one ways wish to know problem places and have them ...

Re: Growing out a shaved Chow

We had a chow who was shaved due to skin problems which disappeared thereafter. Her coat would come back in beautifully, it just takes a bit of time. to the poster whose vet shaved too close and whose chow is now nipping at his hind end because of it - I'd take the dog back to the vet and insist on ...

Re: My Chow pulls

One of our chows used to pull like that until I bought a "haltie". Problem solved! He's older now and I just need an ordinary collar for him, but when he was younger that halti was easier on both of us

Re: My chow chow is vomiting

Different chows have different sensitivities. My 3 year old LOHA used to vomit/diarhea a couple times a month until I switched him from chicken based kibble to beef based. VERY RARELY does he do that any longer. We were owned by a wonderful rescue chow for years who had skin problems, itching, hotsp...

Re: "You don't want a Chow Chow. They're not nice dogs."

There are no bad chows, only bad vets and bad owners. Any vet that would "warn" someone against getting a chow is irrationally afraid of the breed.

I agree with the others - get rid of the vet and find a new vet familiar with the breed.

Re: MY FIRST AND LAST BEAUTIFUL CHOW

After reading through this thread, I just want to add my 2 cents :D I've had chows as pets for over 20 years and many years ago we had what our very knowledgeable about the chow chow breed vet said was "a chow with attitude". I knew that, and realized that like all humans, each chow ...

Re: Chow fest in Canada

Interesting info, but since you don't provide any names, or concrete info your just fear mongering to people who may or may not know better. Is the breeder registered with CKC? Pups bred from champion chows? What exactly are you saying? I know everyone here is interested if you have useful informati...

Re: Chow fest in Canada by JasonandNat » Thu Jan 07, 2010 9:01 pm Hello. This is late but we're in Ottawa. Our Chows are from Port Perry. The breeder has an event every August where people come from all over with all kinds of wonderful Chows. It is a lot of fun. Give us a shout. ____________________...
