Re: Buying a chow
Be careful who you get chows from. Preferably you want a chow thats bread with good temprament, and well trained at birth (potty training, good maners, etc). You'll be amazed at how much a pup learns in the first 8 weeks. You also don't want a pup before 9 weeks and not after 10 weeks. Some breeders...

I acquired bubbles from them also. She is a perfect girl, healthy, very well socialized and well behaved. If I had to do it again, I would buy from Linda. She is a little weird to deal with but I think its worth it. She seems to care about her dogs, and won't ship until the pups are of the right age.

Re: The dreaded itchies!
My chow chow has had the itches for a while and I never figured it out till today. It wasn't really hot spots because its not red or is it bleeding. But just itchie. At first I thought she was dirty so I washed her and professionally air dried her with blower. But the itch spread up and on her back....

Just ouf of curiosity whats wrong with buying from a breeder with lots of dogs? I guess it can be a little dirty unless its a huge kenel and properly maintained. But what I like is the fact that because there are so many dogs, I feel the dog is never alone, always socialized, and despite allthe dogs...

I have bought over the net and can recommend cherub chows (do a search on the net for contact info). She is a little hard to communicate with but her dogs are very nice, well tempered, and well socialized. Documents come with the puppies. But again she isn't the easiest to deal with. Other breeders ...

I'm curious, I was thinking about showing bubbles and she still has a tiny patch of pink on her tounge. Obviously she won't be show quality with it. When does the tounge turn completely blue/black? The pink spot use to be really big but has since filled in. She's almost 6 months (maybe 5 1/4 now?) ....

If your trying to introduce a new dog I would do it in a place outside of home at a demilitarized zone where they don't feel like they own the spot. Have a LOT of treat available and make the dog thats been there first feel special. Pay more attention to him. Offer the new one treats too but not bef...

congrats on the pups ladybug. Those little baby's can be soo cute. Just do me a favor, keep the family together atleast till 8 weeks of age. The little chow chow's really do need their mother to teach them manners. If the baby pups don't get socialized properly and removed too early they can develop...

Does anybody else put their dogs picture online? Love to see other chow puppies. Everytime I take bubbles to costco people are always amazed. Jean Donaldson just recently met bubbles and she says she's never seen a cuter chow. I get that all time time in the bay area. Where are you chow owners hidin...

That is an incredible story! My god it should be published! Its like the best suprise anyone could have! Thinking a rodent or cat was in your yard just to find a cute little chow instead! I wonder if your chow had a chip inserted a while ago with AKC numbers attached. I've always kinda wondered abou...

Recommend away.. We actually have an appointment tonight over at Pets Unlimited but I wouldn't mind giving other vets a try. Do you have an address and location for the vet you are refering to? I'm not sure if I plan to show bubbles or not. Half of me wants to because I think she could win or has th...

Judy, Thats really funny. I was afraid she'd stopped laying on her belly with her feat out. I love that! I just thought it was a puppy thing. Since she's still a baby, I was wondering how are your dogs with children? I want to socialize her with everyone but kids just aren't around when you need em....
