OK! *deep breath* Thanks everyone for your responses. I will try and reply here rather than try and quote everyone. The first time that I *think* they killed this other cat was on a walk. The cat attacked the girls, Cheech grabbed on and the cat was dangling from Cheech's mouth until DH managed to g...

I need your advice or kind words; I am just sick about this.
Orah and Cheech just killed the neighbor cat. The cat was old, almost 20, and couldn't hardly walk let alone run. He was sitting behind the hedge and I didn't see him but O & C did. He had no chance. I will have nightmares for the rest of my life having witnessed it. They finally let go after I ...

Hahahaha... I'm sure there would be more but she hates being groomed almost as much as being bather (even if i bribe with cheese and follow Lou's method), I have to hold her by the collar with one hand and attempt to brush with the other... My hand got tired and Gabs got angry so I had to quit haha...

What is the correct way? I usually just get in there and do it and try not to pull too hard. Suzanne Backwards. And you part sections with one hand and brush with the other, when you part the section with that one hand while you brush with the other sorta make a sweeping motion with that hand. Did ...

I have had the opposite problem -- introducing a chow (and then 2!) to a home where an older cat lives. With the frist chow it took almost a year for them to be able to tolerate each other. The cat lived upstairs where it's safe (the stairs are too steep). Eventually he began to come down and showed...

LOL looks like you adopted another dog there! Yes, it's normal. Try getting a fairly fine-toothed comb to really get in there and get it all out. My girls will tolerate the brushing but the comb only for a little bit. Have fun! Know what I do with my dog fur? I put it outside for the birds to make t...

Well hmmm seeing as how I am blonde and 6 feet tall I don't think I look much like my girls! :D I'd be more inclined to think that many of us have chow personalities or traits? Let's see, mine would be.....well hmm I LOVE to eat so that would put me with Cheech...although Orah loves her treats and s...

Suzie, is it getting warm now in the Netherlands? When do the tulips go into bloom? Have you ever seen any of the Royal family? Karin Well it's not WARM but we've had a really mild winter. Very little snow and no chance of skating on a frozen canal this year. Doesn't bother me since, as I get older...

I think about Sasha every day and have cried a few times, too. Orah and Cheech are my new loves but Sasha was the first. Just like that first kiss, I don't imagine you will ever experience the same feeling again. Sure you can have new chows and kisses but the first one is special. My mom is 78 and i...

Cheech sometimes has a wobble in her back legs but not too bad. She has been diagnosed with HD but it isn't serious yet. Orah who also has HD and does have problems with it has no quivering leg. I used to walk a poodle for a lady and her dog did this all the time -- he is 11 years. People used to as...

Thanks for all of your replies! Sasha used to have really bad gas/smells and that usually told us it was time to have her *Censored Word* glands expressed -- this isn't the same, fortunately, because that really stank! Their farts don't stink, thank goodness. I just worry that they might be having s...

Gas in dogs?
Orah and Cheech tend to really fart a lot! At first I figured it was due to a change in their diet (we have no idea what they ate previously) and perhaps their bellies were upset. Now that they are settled in with their eating they still have gas. Orah can belch like a drunken sailor! And the farts!...

Ours were named Orah and Cheech when we adopted them. I wasn't too thrilled with the names but they seem to fit perfectly! My dad was a huge fan of Cheech and Chong so I guess it's kind of in his honor that we didn't change it (to be honest I liked them too LOL). I do call her CheeChee sometimes, bu...
