Re: Chow Chow X St Bernard
Oh my gosh!!! This dog sounds great.... we have rescued three chows and they have all been amazing. Our first chow, Loki, did have quite a prey drive and didn't get along with one of our cats. Our current chow, Sargeant, is the sweetest dog and gets along with other dogs, cats and children. We have ...

Re: Digging question
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have a box for my grandson which has no sand but I am thinking I might fill it and see if that works. Sarge is such a great dog...want to do whatever I can for him

Digging question
We have had many rescue dogs over the years. Most recently we have had chows. We have recently adopted a four year old male named Sargeant. He is a great dog... , he loves to be in our company, is great with other dogs and our grandkids. Our only problem....he digs!!! We have never had a dog who dig...

Re: Separation Anxiety
Poor baby!! We had a dog years ago with severe separation anxiety. She ripped a door off the frame, destroyed wall and destroyed carpet. I relied on a book entitled "the Dog Who Loved Too Much". I followed the steps in the book which included ignoring her whenever we left and making a fuss...

Re: Should I get chow chow?
Unless you are going to completely embrace this dog as a member of the family, please do not subject a chow to a life outdoors. They do not like the heat and our chows want to be with us. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Adopting a Senior Chow with Children
Bless you for wanting to help this senior chow. We rescued a chow years ago. His name was Loki. We had him ten years before we had a grandchild and had no idea what to expect as he had never been around children. He accepted him immediately and was always protective, being the first on the scene if ...

Re: chow chow mix stomach cancer and passing
I am so sorry for your loss and all you have been through. Please don't second guess your actions. I know how hard it is to let go. We lost our Loki (pure chow) just a few months ago. He, too, was 12. We went through similar circumstances.... in the end we had to do what was best for Loki and that w...

Re: My Poor Sick Baby
I am so sorry for all you have been through. Our dog Murphy was having major health problems and it was hard to get an accurate diagnosis. I love our vet but decided to try a holistic vet (my vet agreed to this and we actually saw them both). It was remarkable...not only did Murphy improve but she l...

Re: Chow Chow lover
I applaud your enthusiasm. Chows are remarkable but they are a very proud breed and they don't take well to "dressing up"... You have a beautiful city. Lived there and loved it but never did see a chow the entire time we were there!

Trouble bonding
We rescued a four year old male chow several months ago. He had a variety of health problems which we have Addressed. He is beautiful and is well behaved but doesn't seem to be bonding with us. Having had chows I understand their aloofness. It is a quality I admire. But this dog seems especially det...

Bless you for rescuing this girl! We have had three rescued chows. The first, Loki, my son found on the streets of New York. Sadly, we lost him in June after 11 wonderful years. Our other rescue, Frisco, is now .11 or 12. He came from an abusive situation and it took us almost two years to gain his ...

Re: Heartworm treatment
Sargeant completed his heartworm treatment a few weeks ago. I was so concerned about the effects but I trust my vet and wanted the best for Sarge. He is doing great. With the exception of being a little groggy after the treatment, he had no ill effects. Before the treatment he was panting, which was...
