A quick hello

I "stopped by" to post two puppies in the "Chows needing a home" section and thought I would say a quick hi as well. I'm not sure how many will remember me, it's been a very long time since I've been on the board. It's been a very busy few years. Fiona is still doing great. I hav...

Re: dont know what you think chow x corgi

I only get a chance to read through the post every once in a while, but this topic caught my attention. This is what an adult chorgi (chow x corgi) looks like: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w181/aultal/Pets/Picturestofile010.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w181/aultal/Pets/Picturestofile...

What devastating news...run free beautiful Milly. I can't imagine a chow girl could have ever been loved anymore.

Re: Can you/would you take your chows to work?

I work for the State of Ohio, I think my only chance of ever having a dog at work would be to find a new job. Liability issues alone would prevent any live animal in the building, but someday, hopefully I can. My current office now would be the perfect situation, there are only 8 employees, we all h...

Re: two spaded females

My families two female chows live in harmony and until January, there was also a female collie in the mix. I have never seen a cross word pass between any of them except for a two week period years ago when my collie was on arthritis medication that did not agree with her. They are not best buddies,...

Can you/would you take your chows to work?

USAToday had an article today showing that more and more companies where allowing dog owners (and in one instance cat/small critter owners) to bring their pets with them to work. I would love to take Fiona to work with me, I think she would love it. I think Tess would be very happy and content to go...

Re: Sophia goes to groomer

It sounds like girls were very good for their salon day. I understand you concern about the yelling at them. If someone yelled at Fiona, they would never be able to touch her again, that's just how she is. Loud voice cause her to shut down, it would take forever to build up trust with her again. Squ...

Re: Has anyone seen this Video? Lola, The blind Puppy

The video was taking forever to load so I will have to watch it later (attention span of a 3 year old), but I didn't realize Lola was pulled from an LA shelter. She is a very lucky chow to find such angles to look after her.

Re: Aloof?

She is without a doubt, my baby. Other than my mom, she is still very funny with all people, unless I have a hold of her collar, then anyone can touch her...makes it very handy at the vet's. The only time she have ever had to be muzzled was after she had the surgery on her ear, it had developed a sl...

Aloof?

Is it not in very description ever printed of chows that they are aloof?

Actually, I love that Fiona is not an aloof dog...it must be the mix in her.

Re: Cllicker Training for Chows?

My chow Tess cannot have the clicker anywhere near her. The only time she has ever heard it, it took half an hour to get her to come back in the house and I got looks from her for two days that made me think I should sleep with one eye open. My other chow Fiona does great with clicker training. So w...

Of course Lychee is beautiful, but in addition to that, you take amazing pictures. I'd have to frame those and hang them on the wall :D .

Aww, Maxine is just adorable. If she had some white fur around her nose and a crimpled ear she could be Fiona's twin (aside from the skinny thing  ).

How did her and Yoshi's meet and greet go?

Sharon, I'm so sorry. Things will work out, you are a very stong person...look at what you've overcome already. Layoffs suck...I was laid-off several years ago before the economy tanked, and now am possibly heading towards it again. I thought working for the state would provide some security...that ...

David, I am so sorry for you loss. I don't know what else to say. The bond between Maxwell was evident in every post you have ever made. I don't think a chow could ever find a better home, even if it was just for a short time then Maxwell had found with you. "Grief is like the ocean; it comes o...

Re: maxwell has a tumor.

Tess developed two white spots around her mouth about two years ago, the coloring has never gone any further and she's about ten. With Maxwell being a mix though, he may start greying at a much younger age. My collie Tacia started greying shortly after I found her at about six years old and had a ve...

Re: Texas Toothpicks

Fiona loves the Texas Toothpicks, but I haven't been able to find them lately. My petstore used to have them in a bulk bins, I would get her one at a time when I bought dog food, but I haven't seen them lately. The store still carries Merrick, just not these. I will have to look at another petstore....

Re: Want to see your chow do something funny?

Twizzlers were my collie Tacia's favorite treat ever. My mom use to keep them in a glass cookie jar in our kitchen. Even if someone just barely bumped the jar so the lid clanged, Tacia could be in a dead sleep in the front of the house and she would get up to see if someone was getting Twizzlers out...

Re: SHAVING??

Fiona gets her "pants" trimmed on occasion because her fur gets really long, then she pees on it  but that is all the trimming either of my chow girls gets. Fiona has been shaved before, when she was first found, and her fur did grow back really fast, but Tess is just the oppisite. T...

Re: Behavior Problem

I really don't have much advice, but I do agree with having the vet evaluate his health before anything else. There are just a lot of health problems that can cause inceased aggression. A trainer can be a great tool also, just be very careful with the trainer you go with. Not that a trainer should u...
