Shave bia myself, or let the vets do it?

Bindy AKA Bia is some what skittish with other people still, although she has been around a few diffrent people, with the bad rep around these parts of the woods (NH). I was wondering would I be better off shaving her myself, or bringing her to a place, having them drug her up with ACE? I do feel mo...

I guess more time with Bia and less time spending it at moms house, anything to make Daddys little princess happy :)

I am happy to see that she has picked me, as it'll make everything easier, if I decide to move out of my girlfriends parents house.

I'm not sure, it was still early when I had written this,

but if thyroid disease, is due to not enough pro-teen than you'd think that one giving more pro-teen would be better for them, right?

Bia acting weird

Bindy aka Bia has acted weird yesterday. I woke up to Bindy jumping up onto the bed, laying down next to me with her head on my shoulder, paw on my face and giving me kisses. Later that day, she had jumped up on the counter, and stole food which she has never done before, and also chased the cats, w...

thyroid disease common in chows?

Will just Nutro be okay for feeding a chow, or should I feed her raw meats on occasion too to help prevent thyroid disease?

such as
weight pulling

Thanks for the compliment :) I love that picture, because dispite the fact that you can't see the person behind her, it does show that chows are not all "baby killers" or "agressive" that they make them seem to be, heck she's great with kids. however im not sure if thats the 5 yr...

I can't picture her being any more independant...

sure when she gets scared she goes to daddy, and does play with me in the back yard, but other than that she lays in the same room as me, but never too close.

also has an obsession with laying down in front of a door, which is a pain.

It's not fair to stress either of the dogs out so as far as a second introduction, goes I'd rather not.

I will allow Bindy to play with other dogs, from now on.

Once I get the courage to get her spayed and don't back out, or once she gets out of heat.

Breeds have certain characteristics associated to them. Within said descriptions, you will find a wide array of actual behaviors. Your vet is incorrect about 2 out of 3 being aggressive. They are aloof, independent, protective, and selective in their behavior. If a stranger knocks on your door when...

A few questions

I hear how stubborn chows can be, and although I can some what see what you guys are talking about, for the most part Bindy is extremely obiedient, she will sit, lay, sit pretty, fetch (although can be stubborn and not bring the toys back.) should I consider myself lucky, or is the reputation of the...

HI there.. and welcome to the site. Im a little confused, and maybe I read it wrong.. but you said your new pup is 9 weeks old and was an outside dog? Do you mean 9 months old? Or were all the puppies just outside all the time? I was told that she spent the majority of the day outside, and was in a...

I am doing good with one chow, what about two?

My one chow is doing fine, and I am able to handle it, but do want her to have a friend, would it be a smart idea to get another chow to keep her company, or wait a while longer?

She is very well socialized. She lives with me and six cats, and a next door dog named Scooby, of which is bigger, but when playing rough she can take him down, as I have been able to see, not to hurt but to play. We have tons of people coming in and out, of our house so she gets alot of socializati...

I live in New Hampshire.
and she will only go outside when someone is out there with her, which is for exercise, and to go to the bathroom.

she was an outside dog, for the day and inside a crate at night, she's never going to be an outside dog again.

Do I need to train her for home protection, and guarding?

I was wondering if I needed to train her to be a guard dog, and teach her how to protect me, and the family, or if it will come to her naturally... also I heard that chows are hard to train to do tricks, but was wondering if this is like chows being "killers" or if this actually has some t...

I am getting a chow chow puppy today!

I am getting a chow chow puppy today, she's a 9 week old female. although I do know what I am getting myself into, as far as what the breed is like, I would like to know what your life is like with a chow. ie: me and my last dog chow mix used to sleep together at night, and she was very human like, ...
