Re: Solid Gold plant sold
This not the info that motivated my original post, however it is enough for me. I am not comfortable with Diamond Foods processing and packaging any food for my furbabies. Diamond Foods does not have a very good track record. I feel better with a small company, such as Merrick who processes and pack...

Re: Solid Gold plant sold
Geez Lou, I felt the heat in your response....doesn't sound like you? I just returned from Christmas vacation and haven't been online since my original post. My bad...I meant Diamond Foods. However, I because I view both Menu Foods and Diamond foods in the same way, neither company has my seal of ap...

Re: Sick dog, please help ? :(
Cedes, you have come to the right place for help. While we can't tell you what happened to your beloved friend, we do understand the sorrow you feel from your loss. I think you will find that most of us are very supportive. Because, chows are so very stoic, it is sometimes hard to tell when they are...

Re: Sick dog, please help ? :(
I am so sorry to hear about your furbaby. We may never know what happened, but I can't help but wonder if she was poisoned? Could be by accident, such as eating a poisonous substance. One of my furbabies actually goes looking for mushrooms growing in the yard. I am constantly dealing with this issue...

Re: Solid Gold plant sold
Thanks Victory! I feel more confident with trying the Merrick, if you have had good results. I'd like to read more about their ingredients, so I guess I'll have to do that online, cuz I can't find a bag of it anywhere around here! It's time to change their food anyway, they've been on the same stuff...

Solid Gold plant sold
Hi all! Many of us here liked the Solid Gold brand dog food and fed it to our furkids. However, since Solid Gold sold their California operations to Menu foods in MO. I''m no longer a fan. I don't want any food that shares a vat with other foods. I'm looking for a small company that does not out-sou...

Re: Introducing a new puppy to my food agressive chow
When I was very young, I made the mistake of introducing a new (younger) chow into our home with our existing chowgirl. The next day, my chowgirl attacked the young chow and killed him. I learned a lesson the hard way! I strongly recommend that you wait on getting a new puppy. It would behoove you t...

Re: Hot Spot and Entropian
I hope the hot spots are better... On the entropian...if you can get the surgery done for $550. I would say run, not walk to the surgeon and get it done! My chow boy had the surgery 3 times and each time it cost over $1000. His surgery was done by a specialist, however I really think my regular vet ...

My daughter lives there and they were trapped in their house for a few days. She and two other homes were on the highest section of their neighborhood. All other were flooded. The Cumberland River runs 1/2 mile from her house, and it is the one that overflowed. I'm glad she and her family are safe a...

Re: Please help solve a problem
It is not uncommon for a Chow to be disliked by other breeds. Even though your chow kid is friendly, other dogs don't always read cues correctly. Most people think that dogs understand each other at ALL times. Not true. Even dogs can get the wrong impression of another dog. Instinctive canine behavi...

Re: ATTN Owners of senior chows.. i have a ?
I agree with everything Victory and Bella have told you. The only thing I would add is this: 1) Liquid Fish Body Oil, mixed in with the food. Helps with many things, among them, arthritis. 2) Are these hot spots on the butt? If so, they can be caused by all the things Victory described, as well as, ...

I'm so sorry, I hope Tipsy is alright! If you are like me, I get so frustrated with people for letting their dogs roam unattended?
I think it is the dog's keeper that needs a swift kick in the head, not the poor dog, but you must do what you must do
to keep your furkids safe!

Jess, I think Judy is on to something here...maybe they've all been dropped on their heads and that's the real problem. Seriously, you have done all that you can do here. I know it's frustrating dealing with stupid people, but the facts are, they live and breath among us. What's worse, stupid people...

Re: Question before buying Chow
my 2 cents... I would not get a large dog if I lived in an apartment. In my opinion, you would be better off with a cat or a small apartment size dog that can use a potty pad indoors. Toy breeds can get all the excercise they need by running around indoors. Also, since you live in an apartment...the...
