Re: Neuter or not to neuter?

I just dealt with the same thing about 8 months ago. My 2 year old male started to mark in the house. I suggested neutering to my husband but he wasn't sold on the idea until.....Cody peed on his big screen tv. He got neutered the next week. Since getting neutered the marking has completely stopped....

Re: puss on eyes on 4 month old puppy

I got Cleo when she was 6 weeks old she needed surgery on her eye. I got it done a week later. She is now almost 11 now and has never had an issue with that eye again. I would get it done now before it causes premanent damage.

Re: Marking in the house

I know! My husband seems to be a little too attached to Cody's package. At least he has finally come around. Once we see if we can get the crystal issues taken care of we will be getting him neutered within the next month. His marking has decreased in the last couple days. I only find 2 or 3 places ...

mealtime vs free feed

I have a 10 year old female and 2 year old male chows. I have always free fed them and they really only eat when hungry. There is always food available to them. Due to finding crystals in the urine of the male I now have to feed him special food and it is important that he only eats that food so I c...

Re: Marking in the house

I have no issues with getting him neutered. The only reason he hasn't been done already is because my husband isn't so keen on the idea. We kind of went with as long as there we no issues we would wait. My husband is all for it now that Cody peed on his TV!!!

Re: Marking in the house

The vet checked him over and said she didn't think at this point the crystals were forming into stones yet because he has not symptoms (no pain, no trouble peeing, no bladder tenderness). He is on Royal Canin Urinary SO. In 2 weeks I need to bring in another urine sample to see if the crystals are s...

Marking in the house

I have a 2 year old intact male. In the last week he has started to lift his leg around the house. I took him to the vet yesterday to talk about neutering him if that was why he started to do this all of a sudden. I brought in a urine sample so they could rule out any medical issues and they found c...

I'm so glad to see she got a good home. I'm from Winnipeg too and saw her on the humane society website. Even considered going to see her but I already have 2 chows (and 2 cats and a bird) so my house is pretty full. I knew that if I saw her in person I would have 3 chows :)

No Black Chows???

Hi all. I hope you guys can help me out. Every year I buy my wife a Chow Chow calender and give it to her for Christmas. (From the dogs) This year I can't find one that has a single Black chow in it!! I've looked local and online. As much as I like the Fawn/Cinnamon coloured ones I need at least one...

Cleo used to lay like that up until a few years ago.

Cody does it all the time.

Cleo would be walking across the room and stop her back legs and keep walking with just the front until she was stretched out then plop down.

It it true that chows have smaller litters compared to other dogs? Cody came from a small litter of 3 and the owner told me chows rarely have more than 5 or 6 pups. He said it was his first chow litter so I didn't know if what he said was true or not. Cute little buggers aren't they. I would love to...

It must be a man thing! I also "tried" to do a "controlled introduction" with our first chow Cleo and one of our cats named Sydney. Sydney was a kitten when we got her and always got along fine with our husky named Whiskey. by got along I mean they pretty much ignored each other....

Wow! So Handsome!

I would snap him up in a minute if I wasn't so far away. I've never seen a white chow up here.

Hmmm... wonder if I could con my boss into sending me to Memphis on business.....

He will be 10 weeks in a few days.
I hope his ears stand up but I'm not sure how long it will take if it happens at all. I didn't know Cleo as a puppy as she was my wife's dog before we met.

The pictures were taken this afternoon.

Cleo not so fond of being brushed or trimming nails or vets, sharing... typical stubborn chow :P

Well, thanks for the offer.

Yes, the black chows seem to have that mischievous smirk don't they?

Cleo also often gives me that "exactly who do you think your talking to" defiant stare when I *try* to discipline her.
